Little Barden - Speldhurst
The brief was to update a very bland sitting room, previously decorated in greys and neutrals with white walls and to make it into a more adult space that the kids would not be using. We went for a dark blue wallpaper with a hint of a pattern to create a bold backdrop, added in new bespoke cabinetry in Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue and the client had always lusted after a big blue L shaped sofa so we got one of those on order pretty quick!
FOOTSTOOL
Key to the design was a large footstool to replace the old white functional coffee table. We covered this in a very bold Lewis and Wood fabric which provided a great basis for injecting other colours in the room with dark burgundy and mustard to cut through the blue. The fabric also had a lovely teal tone which we used on the armchairs and base of the footstool.
COSY RUGS
We also bought a pair of cosy rugs to soften the acoustics and ensure the room felt really snug once the fire was lit.
FINISHING TOUCHES
We created symmetry with a pair of simple black metal console tables either side of the fireplace, adding Graham & Green velvet lamp bases with an antique brass finish which was further picked up in the big bold mirror.
