Best fabric for cushion covers: what to consider

Your cushions may not be the first thing you think of when decorating your home but if you've ever used them, then you know how important they are.
They are the perfect way to make a room feel more cozy and comfortable and can also help improve your mood.

You will want to choose a fabric that is durable, looks good in your space, and reflects who you are as an individual or company. We have selected some of the best fabrics for cushion covers so that it's easier for you!

There are many fabrics that work well for cushion covers. Here are a few of our favourites!

Linen fabric cushion covers

Linen fabric is soft and durable which makes it great for children or pets with allergies. The only drawback is this fabric can wrinkle easily so you may need to steam them often.

They provide great warmth during cold winter weather while still being cool enough on warmer days (no matter what seasonal temperatures bring!). It's breathable but may require more washing than polyester materials do.

Faux suede cushion covers

Faux suede or faux leather textiles will look good anywhere in the home, but they're usually more expensive than other types of fabric because they require special treatment before using them on cushions.

It's best not to use these fabrics outdoors as they won't stand up against moisture too well over time if exposed to rain/snow etc.

Wool felt cushion covers

Wool felt material works really well when making custom blankets due to its ability to insulate well. It's also soft and durable but can be a bit pricey depending on the fabric thickness you need for your project.

Cotton covers

Cotton is a great choice because it's inexpensive, easy to clean, and breathable so cushions made with this fabric won't get too hot in the summer or cold during the winter months.

You will find cotton fabrics are available in all kinds of styles like stripes, dots, etc which make them fun choices when decorating around the home!

The only drawback is that they don't stand up as well against pets/kids as more expensive types of fabric might do due to their lower quality material composition so if these are important considerations for you then it may be best not to have cotton as your first choice

Polyester cushion covers

Polyester fabric is extremely durable and can stand up to a lot of punishment. However, it does not breathe well so as the temperature rises this type of fabric will become very hot in the summertime months which may take away from any comforts you are trying to achieve with your cushions.

This fabric also tends to be stiffer than cotton due to its man-made composition though there are some types that have been treated with natural fibres like bamboo or wool for added softness!

Acrylic

Acrylic fabric is a durable and affordable option that will allow for the cushions to be wiped off easily. It also tends to have more of a sheen than cotton so it can work well if you are going for an elegant look with your cushion covers.

This type of fabric does tend to wrinkle fairly easily as it has little ability to resist water or moisture but they are usually able to get out these wrinkles on their own over time!
