courtLODGE Barn

We relished the chance work at this beautiful converted barn which has been sensitively and extensively transformed into a modern family home filled with features.

Our brief was to create a happy, inviting living space for the family of 5 to gather. We began with space planning, working to re-model the flow and function of the room, accommodating 3 sets of doors and 5 windows. We installed a fire place to draw focus, anchored the seating and created substantial bespoke storage units. We upgraded the flooring and lighting… finally bringing the space to life with blues, teals and a warm grey through paint and fabrics.

We brought much needed balance to the large scale of the room creating bespoke book cases running the length of the room, which created substantial storage, encased radiators and worked carefully around the many doors and windows.

Working with our clients favourite tan leather sofas we introduced blues, teals and warms greys. Inspired by the family’s heirloom red Chinese tea-chest we wove in subtle pops of red into the room, with piping on the Ottoman and on the lampshades - vital details to make the design unique.

We laid pale grey wood floors which is warm underfoot and commissioned a glorious double-bordered rug to zone the seating area and to add texture.

The teal blue runs through the egg shell wood paint and into the patterned fabrics: from luxurious velvet piped with fabulous brush trim to fun animal print in blues/greens.

The new fireplace with gas burner creates a glowing focal point. The new chimney breast was designed to incorporate the TV and accompanying equipment in a streamlined fashion.

The soft furnishings are anchored with bold Ikat style pattern for the blinds, curtain borders and a few scatter cushions. We layered these up with other patterns and a plethora of trimmings to soften the room and add a touch of glamour. This is further accentuated with glass lamps trimmed in a warm brass finish and wall lights over the bookcase.

This pair of re-covered chairs were recovered in a rich teal cotton and deep buttoned to add classic detail. Positioned with a view of the garden and in front of the trimmed curtains, they create a space for a precious moment of peace.

We are absolutely thrilled. Chloe was such a delight to work with and brought so much warmth and clever design to a very challenging room. She listened carefully, gave invaluable advise… and oh my, the fabrics and finishings were so gorgeous, it made choosing very hard! We adore the room now. Thank you Chloe.
