OLD FORGE - SEVENOAKS
THE BRIEF
This was a rather tired and dark sitting room in need of a bit of an overhaul. The client had a clear idea on colours and we worked with a neutral palette - injecting warm blues and a hint of bronze/yellow tones to add a lift and help the light bounce around the room. The client wanted to keep the big blue sofa and two neutral sofas so we had a backbone to the design..
STORAGE SOLUTIONS
The room was in need of storage and so we designed and installed a big blue bookcase to house the TV, and add storage as well as open shelving. This also served to cover a rather awkward shaped bookcase in the wall.
BEAUTIFUL ADDITIONS
As the room is quite dark we included lighting on the bookcase and around the room to make it brighter. The full length curtains were made in a lovely textured linen look-alike fabric with blue border to link to the rest of the cushions. We added plenty of texture to the room with a velvet footstool, brush trim on cushions, bespoke lampshades in a mini animal print that looks really fun. The interconnecting dining area has a blind to match one of the cushion fabrics and we mirrored the glass and brass drinks trolley (so important!) with the new coffee table.
We had a bespoke piece of furniture made - a little cupboard designed to house spare cutlery and glasses. This fits snugly in a corner and is in the same colour as the bookcases. It was designed not to intrude but to subtly link the two rooms together.
The result
The result is fresh but modern country cottage with a coastal twist.
