The advantages of roman blinds

6 reasons to choose roman blinds for your home

If you’re in the market for new window treatments, you might be faced with an endless array of choices. No matter what style of space you are designing, Roman blinds are an option that can offer a solution to just about every room and taste. The concept of “pull-up” curtain was first recorded in France during the 1670s, becoming known as a “festoon” or Austrian blinds. This type of window dressing introduced the idea of single curtain, which was pulled up vertically, therefore using far less material than ornate curtains and allowed maximum light into the room.

Less popular these days they paved the way for the neat, tailored style of Roman blinds that we see and use in abundance today. Here are our top reasons you should consider installing Roman blinds in your home:

1 They Won’t Go Out of Style

Roman blinds have been around for quite some time and that’s not about to change. Part of the reason is that these elegant features are rarely subject to style trends or fads; that means they’ll remain a timeless accessory to your home for years to come. They stack neatly and can often be installed above the window frame, so that loss of light is minimised into the room.

2 Nearly Endless Choices and Options

One of the best things about Roman blinds is the number of options you have when selecting their material and style. Since they can be made from just about any fabric and pattern, they offer a solution to homes in any décor style, and that’s before we even start talking about trimmings and how they add the final flourish…

Blinds are a brilliant solution to a large selection of window sizes and are ideal for smaller windows - or rooms, as they do not take up extra room with fabric stacked on either side of the window.  They can be made to fit around any anomalies in the window dimensions - or in some case balance out difficult features in the room - i.e. awkward beams or differences in height from one side of the window to the other.

3 Mechanics and Safety are Key

The engineering nowadays within blind headrails ensures that they can now fit a wide spans; with geared mechanisms that make pulling the blind up and down easy peasy. Investing in the mechanics is key, we’ve been called out to replace countless (and nameless) headrails from competitors whose products just aren’t up to the job. In addition - all our headrails, made in the UK utilise the latest child-safety features, giving you peace of mind.

4 Light Control and Heat Efficiency

While Roman blinds offer a superior way of blocking out unwanted light, usually made of one piece of fabric they can be installed either inside - or outside the window reveal depending on the client’s requirements/window specifications. For example - is blocking out the light of paramount importance - if yes, then inside the reveal with a blackout lining may be best. However, - if you’ve got window cills you want to utilise then positioning your blind outside the reveal ensures you still have this space to use.

Also let’s not forget heating, as is so often the case, radiators are positioned under windows - adding curtains can block the heat reaching the rest of the room. Whilst a Roman blind doesn’t have such an impact, it’s an excellent way of ensuring a room can still be cosy and as warm as you intend it.

5 Affordability

Since Roman blinds are made of a single piece of fabric, as mentioned above, they require approximately 25% less fabric than regular drapes. This means a more affordable price for you, the client.

6 Clean and Simple to Operate

Roman blinds add a particularly clean and streamlined look to your windows and home. Rather than other bulkier options, they look tidy in any position. Although they’re easy to operate on their own, modern technology also allows for automated options.

As you can see, Roman blinds bring versatility and style to just about any space and project. Consider if they might be a good fit for your home.
