How to style your hallway
The hallway is one of the most used areas of your home and yet, it’s often the most neglected when it comes to interior design. This is usually because people think that just because hallways can’t hold furniture and other aspects of interior design that are usually used to form a room, they think it can’t be styled. It’s difficult to find a way that the hallway will still be practical, with people constantly walking through it, and still styled.
If you’ve been struggling with how to style your hallway and still keep it practical but classy, then this article is for you. We’ll give you all the tips for styling your hallway that has you smiling every time you walk through it but is still practical.
Include Mirrors
Mirrors are a statement and they can add a lot to any room, but specifically hallways. Your hallways are the most used rooms of any house, so they deserve a fabulous entrance and a design that will give people the wow factor. Mirrors won’t only make your hallway appear bigger, but they’ll also brighten up small, dark hallways that don’t have windows. Don’t underestimate the power of including one (or more!) mirrors in your hallways.
Add Colour
When in doubt, get the paint rollers out. If you’ve been too nervous to include bursts of colour in your home in other places, hallways are a great place to experiment with bright, fun colours that you may not want for an entire room. Since hallways are typically smaller and just something that you’ll be passing through, you can afford to add more colour. Get creative with paint colours and choose something adventurous for your hallways!
Assess What Furniture You Can Include
The most common misconception about hallways is that they can’t include furniture. Just because your hallways are the smallest rooms in your home doesn’t mean that they can’t hold some functional furniture. You can add small tables that can hold car keys or dog leashes, as well as small benches for storing shoes. Assess your hallway and decide what will be practical and what furniture you’ll actually use, and what can realistically fit.
Put Thought Into The Light Fixtures
Adding light to any area will add life and brighten it up, but the design of the light fixture itself can add a lot to your hallway. Choose a light fixture that will add character to the space and make sure that you choose with care. Choose to go with lights that will give the hallways bright and warm, nothing harsh. Trust us, stylish light fixtures can make all the difference to your hallway!
Use Baskets
When you have limited space but still want to keep things tidy, baskets are the way to go. All you need is a small bench or shelf to store them on and you can keep shoes, keys, or a variety of other items kept in them. You’ll also find that woven, pretty baskets can add a lot more to hallways than just being practical. These baskets can make a room artistic and appealing and add character.
