Small office ideas
With as many people adapting to working from home this past year and a half we’ve seen more people converting extra space in their homes into small offices. They’ve started to create spaces that they can spend their weekdays in to give it more routine and give the feeling of the office to their home. Since working remotely is already chaotic, people are trying to give their life some stability by creating a space that is strictly reserved for work instead of getting distracted while they work from their kitchen table.
Whether you’re using your dining room table, an empty closet, a spare room, or your summer house as your office, there are always ways to bring life to a small office. Regardless of the size and where it’s located, there’s always a way that you can transform any space into a room that you’ll love and enjoy spending time in.
Use A Single Shelf For A Desk
One of the smartest ways that you can effectively utilize space in a small office is to use a single shelf. Desks can take up a large amount of space, but when you decide to use just one shelf instead of putting a large desk into your office it can take up less space. By sticking a single shelf underneath a window it creates a warm environment where you’ll want to work with natural light streaming in.
Use Underneath The Stairs For An Office
No extra space to use as an office? No problem! You can use the extra space underneath your stairs to dedicate a space to work. You truly don’t need more than a desk and a chair and you’ll have a small office. You can get creative and use the wall space and flooring to create a warm space that, although small, will allow you to get your work done in peace.
Be Open To Wallpaper
Unfortunately, many people have written wallpaper off from their home decorating choices since they may think that it’s outdated. But to make your office the best that it can be you should be open to using wallpaper if needed. Introducing wallpaper into your office with a fun pattern behind your desk can sometimes be exactly what you need to give your office character and make it personal.
Put Your Desk In A Cupboard
Perhaps the oddest idea on our list but one that certainly works is to conceal your desk by putting it in a cupboard. Having an office that you can shut the door on when you’re done with work and being able to step away from your job is critical for your mental health when working from home. Transforming an old cupboard into a desk and pulling up a chair when needed is effective for work and will allow you to leave your work and step away at the end of the day.
Set Up A Home Office In The Living Room
Perhaps the most inconvenient place that you can set up a home office is your living room. Since this is going to be where most of your family members are during the day it can be distracting to work amidst the chaos of the living room but it is possible. The key is to dedicate a space that is strictly for your office. You want to have your desk, chair and material needed to work in one section. Remind family members that you’re working and they’ll have to use headphones when listening to music or watching tv during the day.
